10 CHURCHES I LOVE IN CEBU.

My recent blogposts are about churches. I don't want to give the impression that I'm dogmatically religious! It's just that I was able to visit a lot of churches and really appreciate them. I've never been to any since the COVID-19 pandemic as advised by the Roman Catholic Church. It rather strengthens my belief that you don't have to be in a particular building in order to communicate with the heavens. I believe that the practice of faith is a very personal relationship that cannot be dictated by certain rules. Well, that's just me. :-)

My love for churches is something that I find hard to explain but I will try.

First, I love how peaceful churches are most of the time because I prefer visiting them than attending Sunday masses. I get anxious a lot when I'm worshiping with a crowd because I tend to behave in a particular way just to fit in which I think should not be the case. Churches for me are like places where you can just be yourself and be honest with your thoughts. Their quiet ambiance just instills calmness in me in an indescribable manner.

Second, I love how some churches stood on its ground for so long. I'm very fascinated by the architecture and the history behind them. It amazes me how certain traditions can survive over the passage of time. I'm not disregarding the fact that there are injustices being recorded which involve leaders of religious denominations even within the confine of churches' walls. That for me is a reason in itself to look after these structures because they tell or remind us a spectrum of stories.

I have a couple of go-to churches in Cebu. I'm sharing them just in case you want to go church hopping in the future after this crisis is finally over. They come in no particular order.
