VINTAGE ILOCOS.
Hello! I'm very sick today. I've felt so bad last night that my chest ached. I slept it off. When I woke up my head is hurting so bad, I now have colds. And since I kind of wanted to make the most of my free remaining days. I decided to write as many as I possibly could, even if I'm a bit under the weather.
I've been to Ilocos because I had to attend a conference related to work. I never in my life thought I could go that far up north in the Philippines. Such a blessing.
I'm now going to fill you in with my Instagram uploads. You can follow me if you like. Most of the Ilocos pictures are still there. I'm a bit weird in Instagram I always feel the need to make it presentable like a gallery so sometimes I delete awkward posts - which I got called out. Now, I've somehow changed that.
Btw, this is not a how to get there post. We were travelling with an office vehicle so I can't recall the stops that should have happened if I were commuting. Since we came from Manila, We first set foot in Vigan then eventually to Laoag. (I'm not so good with geography.)
I have to say that I like how well off the Ilocos looks like compared to any other provinces I've been to in the country. A lot of my peers say that it's because the Marcos are from there and so it must have been logical to say the improvements were abundant to that part of the country during his time. Well, I very much think its plausible. The buildings that seem to be vintage are very well preserved and the surroundings are just neat. The food/delicacies are very palatable, too! Especially bagnet and pukepuke. Hmmm. They're my favorite.
I wouldn't deny how it looks like some countryside in the Western hemisphere but this shot was taken from where we stayed that somehow is a little remote from the city proper. I find it very relaxing and cozy - perfect for vacation. We went to several tourist spots which you can browse through my Instagram account but we somehow missed the sand dunes.
The issue on Marcos' burial to the Libingan ng mga Bayani is huge at this time and I must say that I'm not for it. The argument of the President that it will heal wounds is rather the opposite of what I think is happening now - it's reopening past traumas that didn't get any apology. Anyway, the Supreme Court is doing something to address the conundrum.
That's all for the Ilocos trip. I cut it short because I'm tearing up really bad and I've been sneezing A LOT while writing this. Hehehe. I hope I get well soon.
