BANAUE RICE TERRACES AND A RED SCARF.
In my previous post, I mentioned about taking a jeepney ride from Duit to Banaue. Well, I guess this really wouldn't serve as a good guide unto how one should get there from Manila. :-) But should you have the same route as will be read through later, you may want to try what my family did.
The Banaue trip was a collateral trip we decided to take upon visiting my father's hometown - Duit. In an earlier blog, I described how we got to Duit. We took a bus ride from OHAYAMI bus station at Sampaloc, Manila bound for Lagawe. It's a 12-hour trip and the bus usually leaves in the evening. When we arrived at Lagawe, we took a motorcycle ride to Duit and from Duit, our relatives rented a jeepney that will take us directly to the viewing deck of the Banaue Rice Terraces.
It was the fastest and bumpiest jeepney ride of my entire life. My butt hurt. Hahaha, but it was all worth it! Here are a few of the shots I had while visiting the 8th wonder of the world. Yay! :-)
It was not cold as I thought it will be. I still don't know where I got the said idea but I thought I would need a sweater. Gladly, I didn't. It was a soulful visit. It was memorable because our family's complete when we went there. It's been awhile since we took the time to go to places.
Personally, I love going to the North to where I think my roots are. I want to learn more about their culture, their dialect, meh, almost everything about them really. I am proud that I'm a daughter of an Igorot and I want to show it in even the littlest way possible.
I'm but blessed to witness the Banaue Rice Terrace's beauty and how Global Warming has not put it into a catastrophe yet. There are a lot of unexplored places in the country - full of wonders and evident time capsules. I wish my future family gets to see this too.
I always wanted to travel in the Philippines and I must admit that my concept of travel doesn't include unplanned ones. However, I'm starting to rethink of how travels should be. I guess I must learn to ditch my pre-sketched itinerary to somehow learn to take a leap of faith in the process. That is what happened with me and my family when we decided to take a side trip!
So that's how I got to Banaue - luscious and green. To spice it up, I got my first scarf and it's red! An unregrettable purchase :-)
